Water your plants just once a week or even less. Bury the Olla in the soil sow transplant your plants around it and fill with water. The Olla will ensure that every drop is delivered direct to the roots. You can extend the length of time between filling by applying a mulch around the plants. 

The terracotta pot is fired to a low temperature which makes it porous, this allows water to seep slowly out of the pot and into the soil. Soil moisture is maintained at a constnat level in a ring around the pot, as far out as the pot is wide. 

The plants soon learn where the water is coming from and wrap their roots around the pot, taking a drink when they need it. However, when growing plants from seed or transplating seedlings, help them along with a bit of water on the surface until their roots are more esablished.
